IP based communications has now been accepted by both the voice and data industries as the platform of choice for delivering integrated voice and data services over one integrated network infrastructure.
With the maturing of the converged voice and data markets there is now simply no need to deploy two independent sets of communications technologies to deliver what is in essence one business process - business communications.
Cisco with its server based Call Manager and competitively priced Call Manager Express has seamlessly and effectively merged call processing and data routing services into its new generation of Integrated Service Access routers.
Cisco
Call Manager Express
Delivering a robust set of business call features within its internal
operating system the Cisco IOS software routes, manages and delivers
a full set of call management features without the need for external
servers and databases.
Cisco Call Manager Express is ideal for organisations that require up to 100 extensions or for larger organisations that require IP enabled branch or regional offices.
How It
Works
The IP phone is connected into the network like any other device
- PC etc, using the standard cat-5 cabling infrastructure. The phone
is connected into a PoE (Power over Ethernet) switch port. The switch
powers the IP phone and also uses its QoS (Quality of Service) intelligence
to prioritise and ensure that voice traffic is delivered before
data traffic. This intelligence ensures that telephone call quality
and reliability is maintained at all times over the network.
Also connected into the switch is the new generation of Cisco ISR routers, these new routers replace the need for traditional PABX systems and provide all the intelligence and services you would normally receive from a traditional PABX. You can choose from a wide range of service options including PSTN/ ISDN interfaces, new wide area network interfaces for improved ICT integration, voicemail and automated attendant services and a full portfolio of common telephone services as standard.
Financially
Rewarding
Investing in one not two sets of communications technology has obvious
financial benefits. Longer term savings are also realised with lower
ongoing maintenance and support costs which also help deliver improved
ICT productivity. Investing in the Cisco IP telephony platform allows
you to take advantage of new IP features today and opens up the
possibilities of integrating voice services in to the new Business
Intelligence systems of tomorrow.
